Short Biography
Kissogram is a Berlin-based band, known for combining non-compliant, experimental electronic sounds with catchy, danceable pop songwriting and rock 'n' roll.
Founded in 1999 by Jonas Poppe and Huguenot Sebastian Dassé, Kissogram savour early success with a remix version of their first hit 'If I Had Known This Before'. At that time their style is slightly ironic synthesizer pop, maybe comparable to German New Wave 'NDW'. They are using elements of computer game music, children's keyboards and stylophones. Soon the songs grow more sophisticated, as songwriting and the lyrics begin to be more important. At the same time their live performance becomes energetic and sweaty.
Their first album 'The Secret Life Of Captain Ferber' is recorded 2004 with hip-hop dandy and pop prankster Gonzales in Paris. It is released on Louisville Records, as the following two albums. The press describes their style as 'rock 'n' roll disco', 'bohemian disco wave' or 'hungover melancholy electronic pop' (NME).
On their second album 'Nothing Sir!' they experiment with oriental sounds and harmonies for the first time.
In 2008 drummer Joe Dilworth (Stereolab, Add (N) to X, Cat Power) joins Kissogram and they record their rock album 'Rubber and Meat'.
Kissogram go on touring with Peaches, Jeans Team, Underworld, and, in 2009, Franz Ferdinand take them through all of Europe and to Japan.
Kissogram is a dance act with a pulsating and powerful beat. The Kissogram double helix: they're touring in their original line-up as an electronic duo for the the clubs and as a band trio with drummer Dilworth.
They also do remixes and music for movies.
